Gmail Notifier, a warning email Indicator applet that uses

Gmail Notifier is a warning mail to Gmail, which has the distinction of using the Indicator applet in Ubuntu (including the Version 10.04 "Lucid Lynx"), unlike Mail Notification checkgmail or who use their own icon.




Installation (for Ubuntu 10.04 )

To install Gmail Notifier, you must:
  • download Gmail Notifier here, click on the package version. Deb in the section "Download" and choose to install with Gdebi
  • or else add the following repository (for Ubuntu 10.04 "Lucid Lynx"): deb http://repo.ahadiel.org/apt lucid / and install the package gmail-notify .


Configuration To configure Gmail Notifier, you must:
  • go to the menu Applications> Internet> Gmail Notifier - Settings, enter the Gmail account settings and click Save then Close .
To launch Gmail Notifier at every boot, just:
  • go to the menu System> Preferences> Startup Applications
  • click Add
  • complete the following fields: Name = Gmail Notifier , Controls = gmail- notifier.py
  • click Save and close the window Startup Applications

Use


To start the first Gmail Notifier, go to the menu Applications> Internet > Gmail Notifier to launch the program, which will be housed in the Indicator applet.

In use, Gmail Notifier is invisible

With the arrival of a new mail Envelope Indicator applet turns green, and a balloon notification appears for a few seconds:


By clicking on the Indicator applet, it is possible to see the titles of new posts, the next frame, there are two emails waiting there 5 minutes and 2 hours:


Then just click to open the mail client e-mail by default (eg Evolution and currently click directly on the list of messages in Gmail Notifier does nothing).
